Iran’s military strength showcased in retaliatory attack against Israel: MP

TEHRAN – A member of the Iranian Parliament says Tehran's retaliatory attack against Israel only demonstrated a glimpse of the country’s military strength.

In an interview with Iranian media on Monday, Mehdi Sharifian addressed Iran's missile and drone operations against the Zionist regime, stating that the events of the Saturday night, in response to the Zionist regime's attacks on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, have permanently altered the regional dynamics.

Furthermore, he highlighted Iran's strategic patience in recent years, justifying the events of the previous night. He noted the lack of justification for the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime, contrasting it with Iran's firm belief in preserving its interests and national sovereignty.

Sharifian reiterated the centrality of deterrence in Iran's defensive doctrine, warning of the Zionist regime's accelerated destruction due to strategic errors. He emphasized Iran's pivotal role in shaping the political and military equations of the region.

Moreover, the successful execution of Operation Truthful Promise demonstrated Iran's military power, despite severe international sanctions. Sharifian concluded by praising the coordinated efforts of Iran's armed forces and issuing a warning to the United States and the Zionist regime regarding potential future actions.

The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on Sunday, announcing the firing of dozens of drones and missiles towards the occupied territories and positions of the Zionist regime. The statement cited various crimes committed by the Zionist regime, including the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the martyrdom of Iranian military commanders and advisors in Syria.

During this retaliatory response, more than 280 missiles and drones were fired at military centers of the Zionist regime, with Iran warning of a stronger response if further mistakes were made.
