Tehran (IP) - Despite widespread opposition and warnings from Palestinian groups, the Zionists will hold the so-called Flag March today, on May 29th.
Last year, no flag march was held after the 'Operation Sword of al-Quds' in the aftermath of the battle in the occupied territories. In other words, the Israeli regime's fear of continuing the resistance rocket attacks, as well as their fear of escalating the conflict with the Palestinians, led to the cancellation of the Zionist settlers' flag march.
It seems that one of the reasons for their insistence on holding this year's march is related to the fact that the annual resistance of the Palestinians causes the event to be canceled every year.
Another issue is that the rotating cabinet of Naftali Bennett-Yair Lapid is fragile, and the cancellation of the flag march could intensify the positions of hardline Zionists and political rivals, especially former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, against the cabinet. Therefore, Bennett's cabinet is trying to prevent the escalation of opposition by giving permission for the flag march.
Palestinian resistance groups have warned the Israeli regime of the consequences of holding a flag march. Furthermore, Israeli media circles and experts have warned of the consequences of the march.
Experts and security and military circles of the Israeli regime have repeatedly warned that the army is not ready to enter any war, even with Palestinian groups, and even its recent military maneuver is more to restore its lost deterrence equation and strengthen the morale of Zionist settlers.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Israel was moving towards a war with open eyes and that there was no eligible or responsible person in Israel to prevent this catastrophe, neither at the political nor operational level.
These warnings to Naftali Bennett's cabinet come as the Palestinian political scene has changed in the past year or so, and on the one hand, the Palestinian consensus in al-Quds, the West Bank and Gaza has increased to confront the regime's crimes, and on the other hand, the belief in resistance and the opposition of the Palestinians to the normalization of ties the Israeli regime is even greater than ever.
Given these conditions, and despite the conditions provided by the Zionists for holding this march, they are still worried about the consequences, and especially the warnings of the Palestinian groups. Therefore, the Israeli regime's cabinet has deployed 3,000 police in al-Quds Old City to ensure the security of the Zionist settlers before the flag march.
Undoubtedly, the provocative flag march could pave the way for new clashes between the Palestinians and the Israeli regime and the settlers.
