Iran demands five countries to pursue Gen. Soleimani's assassination case

Tehran (IP) - Director general of International Affairs of Iran's Judiciary said that Iran had demanded five countries to follow up the case of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani's assassination.

Iran Press/ Iran news: In a specialized meeting held on Monday over the latest legal status of Lieutenant-General Qassem Soleimani's assassination case, Alireza Saaedi said: "Extensive investigations have been carried out to pursue the case and Iran has sent notice to five countries to follow it up."

Saaedi did not mention the countries' names. 

He noted that the Council of Justice for a joint investigation with the Iraqi government had held its first session successfully.

"Apart from the criminal part of the case, which deals with the punishment of perpetrators and criminals, a legal case has been filed in Tehran to investigate and issue a verdict for damages and losses resulting from such an action, so martyrs' families and other people can claim for damages," he said. 

Also, another key note speaker of the session, the Special investigator for International Affairs, Saeed Farhadinia said that the assassination of Lt. Gen Martyr Soleimani is an absolute violation of the Convention on Terrorism and Resolution 1556, for which US had been responsible.

He added: "124 perpetrators have been identified and arrest warrants have been issued for 43 people and also 13 specialized meetings have been held with 700 correspondences; Of course, 9 countries have been given judicial commission to pursue this case".

Speaking in a meeting, Iran's Deputy Attorney General called the follow-up of the assassination of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani a religious duty.

Saeed Omrani said: "Today, the terrorists rule and run the world and there are murderers who also run the world with mass destruction weapons. The US has withdrawn from Afghanistan, but built a war machine in that country and then left it. 

He pointed out that yet the world is awakening the US is declining even in its all states.

Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, former deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, and their companions were martyred outside Baghdad International Airport last January on the direct order of the former US President Donald Trump.

General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad on the formal invitation of the Iraqi government.
