Press TV learned in the course of the study of the polls — including more significantly by polling stations with more credible past records — that voter turnout increased after the first presidential debate to 47.1% — marking an increase of 2.5 percentage points, and that the figure will continue to incline upwards as Election Day draws closer.
Also, according to Press TV’s findings, presidential candidate and current Judiciary chief Ebrahim Raeisi enjoys the highest support — 55.6% — among voters. Mohsen Rezaei ranks at a distant second with 5.5%.
The two Reformist candidates in the election, Nasser Hemmati and Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh, enjoy 2.1% and 0.7%, respectively.
Voter support for the other candidates is as follows: Sa’eed Jalili, 2%; Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh-Hashemi, 1.9%; and Alireza Zakani, 0.7%.
Furthermore, Press TV learned that, shortly before the second presidential debate, 23.2% of the voters were still undecided.
In carrying out the study of the polls, Press TV assessed the record of the polling stations by comparing their predictions in past elections with the actual results in each case, and made a heavier use of the data by the better-performing survey centers.
Iran is holding its 13th presidential election on June 18. The first presidential debate was held on Saturday (June 5), and the second debate is due shortly on Tuesday.
Over 59.3 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the election, according to the Iranian Interior Ministry.
