A senior Iranian MP is convinced that US President Donald Trump has brokered normalization deals between Israel and the two Arab states, the UAE and Bahrain, in a bid to appease the Israeli lobby ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, Mohammad-Saleh Jokar, the head of the Iranian Parliament’s Councils and Internal Affairs Committee, said since the Zionist lobby’s support for each candidate plays a very significant role in determining the winner in the US presidential elections, it is expected that Trump would seek to appease the lobby by making such moves.
The next US presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 3.
Jokar assured that since Israel’s security is an important issue for the Zionist lobby, Trump has invested heavily in this sector.
The MP said the UAE and Bahrain will definitely suffer serious losses in the future from normalization of ties with Israel as US presence in the region will not be long-lasting.
He added that the move by the two Arab states will definitely be etched in history.
On Tuesday, Bahrain and the UAE signed official agreements at the White House enabling full normalization of their relations with Israel. The deals had been announced by Trump earlier, in September and August.
The deals were signed between Emirati and Bahraini foreign ministers, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump penned his blessing into the accords.
Jokar noted, “Although these two countries were not expected to help the Palestinian people, we hope that they would soon come to their senses.”
The MP hoped that these countries would soon regain their identities, warning them against being US puppets in the region, as it will not be in their interests.
Muslims are determined that Israel be wiped out from the face of the earth as it lacks any identity and is fake, he said, adding the Israeli regime has the Palestinians’ blood on its hands.
Jokar described as a strategic mistake the decision by the UAE and Bahrain to normalize ties with Israel, noting that they seek to provide Israel with a foothold in the region and the Persian Gulf in the field of security; but they will definitely fail to achieve what they want.
Normalizing ties with Israel has been the US strategy in the region as, at present, the Zionist regime is in a weak position and intimidated by the Resistance Front’s power, he said.
The lawmaker said the US seeks to unite Arab states with Israel in a bid to help the regime enter the region’s market and improve its economic condition, on the one hand, and to put the Resistance Front under added pressure, on the other hand.
Commenting on Trump’s so-called deal of the century, he said the deal was a plan by the US president to induce Arab states to establish normal relations with Israel under the present political and security circumstances.
On January 28, Trump unveiled his so-called deal of the century, negotiated with Israel, but without the Palestinians. Palestinian leaders, who severed all ties with Washington in late 2017, after Trump controversially recognized Al-Quds as the “capital” of the Israeli regime, immediately rejected the plan, with President Mahmoud Abbas saying it “belongs to the dustbin of history.”
Trump’s Middle East scheme largely meets Israel’s demands in the decades-old conflict while creating a Palestinian state with limited control over its own security and borders.
It also enshrines Al-Quds as “Israel’s undivided capital” and allows the regime to annex settlements in the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley. The proposal further denies the right of return of Palestinian refugees into their homeland.
“Given the Resistance Front’s favorable development over the past few years and its success in almost ending US hegemony in the region, Washington decided to encourage its puppet governments to normalize ties with Israel.”
However, such relations existed, albeit not overtly, between some Arab countries and Israel in the past, the MP said.
Even during Israel’s 33-day war on Lebanon in 2006, and its 22-day war on Gaza in 2008, some Arab states provided the Zionist regime with the security information on Hezbollah and the resistance forces, he added.
Jokar said by releasing the ‘deal of the century,’ Trump pressured Arab states to disclose their ties with Israel and, thus, provide the Zionist regime with immunity in the region.
He gave assurance that Israel would not last long, noting that once the regime plotted to expand its control over Muslim territories from the Nile to the Euphrates.
“This comes as, at present, the regime has built a cement wall around itself and is extremely afraid of the Resistance Front.”
Today, the MP said, the Muslims’ front and the Axis of Resistance are in a strong position, adding that, at present, Hashd al-Shaabi is present in Iraq, resistance forces are capable of producing weapons and missiles in Gaza, the Alawites are based in Syria, and Hezbollah has a great influence and status in Lebanon.
This is while Israel is weakening, he reiterated.
