Sheer barbarism

Israel is under fire for killing Palestinian civilians, using AI to commit 'domicide' in Gaza

TEHRAN- Israel has perpetrated cold-blooded massacres in the Gaza Strip since launching war on the Palestinian territory on October 7. Nearly 34,000 Palestinian people have been killed in Israeli strikes since then, most of whom are women and children.

A rights group has revealed that 13,000 Palestinians are believed to be missing amid Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

According to Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, the disappeared Palestinians could be trapped under the rubble of leveled buildings, forcibly disappeared, executed, or buried in unmarked mass graves.

Israel also stands accused of starving Palestinians to force them to leave the coastal enclave and make room for Jews to establish settlements in the Palestinian territory.
These atrocities are just the tip of the iceberg.

Earlier this month, a report published by the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine and the Hebrew-language outlet Local Call, revealed that Israeli military officials permitted large numbers of Palestinian civilians to be killed particularly during the early weeks and months of the Gaza war.

Citing testimony from several Israeli intelligence sources, the report said Israel has used artificial intelligence (AI) systems to pursue Hamas and Islamic Jihad members.

Two sources said the killing of up to 20 civilians were permitted during airstrikes on low-ranking members of the resistance groups in the early weeks of the war.

They also said Israel judged it permissible to kill more than 100 civilians in attacks on top-ranking Hamas officials.

The sources noted that unguided munitions known as “dumb bombs” were typically used in attacks on such targets.

Israel’s use of dumb bombs with the assistance of AI to flatten Palestinian homes in Gaza over their alleged links to resistance groups could help explain the shockingly high death toll in the territory.

Israel’s use of powerful AI systems in its Gaza onslaught has entered uncharted territory for advanced warfare. The move has also raised a host of legal and moral questions.
UN rights experts have condemned the purported use of artificial intelligence by Israel in Gaza which resulted in an unprecedented toll on the civilian population.

“We are especially concerned about the alleged use of AI to target ‘family homes’ of suspected Hamas operatives, typically at night when they sleep, with unguided munitions known as ‘dumb’ bombs, with little regard for civilians who may be in or around that home,” they said.

The experts added, “If proven true, the shocking revelations of the use of AI systems by the Israeli military such as ‘Gospel’, ‘Lavender’ and ‘Where's Daddy?’, combined with lowered human due diligence to avoid or minimize civilian casualties and infrastructure, contribute to explaining the extent of the death toll and home destruction in Gaza,” the experts said.

They stressed that the deliberate demolition of Palestinian homes in Gaza amounts to war crimes.

“The systematic and widespread destruction of housing, services and civilian infrastructure represents a crime against humanity, a domicide, as well as numerous war crimes and acts of genocide as described by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territory in her recent report to the Human Rights Council,” they said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said the war declared on Gaza aims to “destroy” Hamas, a dream which has so far remained elusive due to growing support for the Palestinian resistance.

Netanyahu has also said the Israeli army will continue the war until “total victory” over Hamas.

But, Israel’s war aims have been called into doubt.

“With Israeli public officials joining calls for Palestinians to leave Gaza, to take back Gaza to build settlements again, and ostensible enthusiasm expressed by prominent former US government officials for Gaza beachfront properties, there is little doubt that Israel’s intent goes far beyond the purposes of military defeat of Hamas,” the UN experts have said.

Western countries, in particular the U.S., have thrown their full weight behind Israel’s war of genocide on Gaza. They claim that Israel has the right to defend itself against attacks launched by Palestinian resistance groups.

But, these countries which consider themselves as leading human rights advocates have turned a blind eye to the massacres carried out by Israel in Gaza.
