JCPOA revival in preparation

Since about 10 days ago, the news published in the media regarding the revival of the JCPOA has been relatively positive. I personally think the negotiating parties have agreed on the resumption of talks to revive the JCPOA, and it is possible that the deciding parties, i.e. Iran, E3 (France, UK, and Germany) and the United States will adjust their previous positions to some extent to reach an agreement.

The possibly upcoming trip of Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to Iran, which will probably be two weeks later may be a good basis for resuming the talks. I think that after this trip, the time of the resumption of the talks will be announced. However, we have to wait and see what framework the negotiating parties decide to continue working on, until an agreement is reached.

Regardless, I think that the parties will resume work based on the previous dialogue package they worked on and reached an agreement, and if nothing special happens in the meantime, it can be predicted that the new round of negotiations would not last too long unlike the previous rounds.

Earlier, the Western parties accused Iran of pursuing demands that were not related to the JCPOA in the talks, and now the Western parties have a strong disagreement with Iran regarding some non-JCPOA issues, such as the claim of helping Russia in the war in Ukraine, as well as human rights issues.

It seemed that the Europeans set some prerequisites at the recent summit in Jordan, including saying that Iran should be transparent about military cooperation with Russia and convince the Ukrainians. They have claims about the violation of human rights in Iran, in addition to the fact that the pressure of public opinion may have an effect on the positions of Europeans and Americans.

However, considering that the internal situation in Iran has calmed down, I think that the ground has been prepared for the beginning of the dialogue and I assume the negotiations will not be too public in order to be immune from the influence of the negative positions of some countries in the region and public opinion.

What is important is that the JCPOA is still significant for Iran, Europe and the U.S. and the parties do not have a suitable alternative to resolve their differences. Therefore, there is hope that with the start of the new round of negotiations, an agreement to revive the JCPOA will be signed. Basically, this event requires preparations, which I think the parties are busy doing them right now.
