The two sides signed several cooperation agreements during a visit by the Bahraini crown prince to the US

In an official visit by Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa to Washington on 4 March, Bahrain signed six agreements relating to logistics, information technology, space sciences, and industry with the US.

The agreements involve partnerships between several government sectors and national companies, including a deal with US companies to develop the kingdom’s governmental data network infrastructure.

In a meeting with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Prince Salman noted the crucial nature of the strategic dialogue between the two nations, suggesting that their diplomatic relationship stems from seeking “regional prosperity and security.”

The two officials discussed a variety of regional and bilateral issues, which included security and joint peace initiatives, economic reformation, as well as “steps to advance human rights” on a regional scale.

They also addressed the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, calling it an “unjustified attack” by Russia.

Blinken commended Bahraini delegates for voting in favor of a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

He then thanked the prince for his contributions in providing safe transit for evacuees from Afghanistan while also praising the kingdom for deepening their ties with Israel.

On 20 February, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani announced that the Israeli spy agency Mossad had been activated in the Gulf country.

“There is intelligence cooperation between Israel and Bahrain … the Mossad is in Bahrain, and they are present in the region, and if this security cooperation between Bahrain and Israel provides more security and stability, it should happen,” Bahrain’s top diplomat said.

The visit of the crown prince to Washington comes just days after Bahraini citizens took to the streets to protest against the deepening of ties between their government and Israel.

Protesters in Bahrain carried banners condemning the normalization of diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.

They burnt Israeli flags and accused the rulers of Bahrain of abandoning the people of Palestine and their struggle against Israeli occupation.
