Hamas delegation arrives in Moscow for talks with Russian diplomats

A senior Hamas delegation, including members of Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq and Husam Badran in addition to Hamas representative in Russia, arrived on Friday in Moscow to discuss regional issues with Russian officials.A senior Hamas delegation arrived in Moscow to discuss regional issues with Russian officials.

The Hamas delegation held a lengthy meeting with Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative on the Middle East.

Held in at the guesthouse of the Russian foreign ministry, the meeting was attended also by Russian Representative of the Middle East Quartet Vladimir Safronokov and Deputy Chief of the Russian foreign ministry’s Middle East and North Africa Department (MENAD) Alexei Skoserev.  

The high-profile delegation briefed Bogdanov on the latest political developments related to the intra-Palestinian relations and Hamas’ measures to unify the Palestinian position, in addition to the movement’s vision to move forward with this approach to achieve Palestinian aspirations.

Bogdanov, in turn, welcomed the Hamas delegation, stressing the importance of the timing of this visit.

Reiterating his country’s stance in support of Palestinian rights and reconciliation efforts, Bogdanov confirmed that Russian is always willing to provide what is needed to unify the Palestinian position, as it is a vital factor to achieve Palestinian aspirations.

During the meeting, Bogdanov talked about the efforts being exerted by Russia with all concerned sides, reaffirming his country’s opposition to US President Donald Trump’s “deal of the century.”

Finally, the Hamas delegation expressed its gratitude to Russia for its efforts and stances in various international stages in support of Palestinian rights, adding that this visit was intended to boost bilateral discussions and coordination.
