Tehran (IP)- Addressing the US President, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif via a tweeter post said that humanitarian swap was achieved despite US' subordinates' efforts.
Iran Press/Iran news: "We achieved a humanitarian swap despite your subordinates' efforts, And we had a deal when you entered office. Iran and other JCPOA participants never left the table. Your advisors—most fired by now—made a dumb bet. Up to you to decide when you want to fix it," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote in his tweeter.
Iran's FM Zarif Tweet was an answer to Trump's tweet shown below, directly addressed US President with a screenshot of his tweet on the release of Michael White, a US citizen and Navy veteran imprisoned in Iran since 2018. Trump originally told Iran not to wait until after the US election to make a deal.
Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed on Thursday the release of Majid Taheri, an Iranian physician held in US jails on sanctions-related issues, calling on Washington to release all other Iranian citizens taken “hostage”.
"This can happen for all prisoners. No need for cherry-picking. Iranian hostages held in—and on behalf of—the US should come home," Zarif noted.
US President Donald Trump voiced hope for progress with Iran on Thursday after Tehran released a US Navy veteran and the United States freed two Iranians.
Trump said he spoke to White by telephone and voiced rare appreciation to Iran, with which the United States was close to all-out war several months ago.
"Thank you to Iran, it shows a deal is possible!" Trump wrote on Twitter.
