Leader hails disabled war veterans as living martyrs

Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, today on the auspicious 4th of Sha’ban, celebrated in Iran as Rouz-e Janbazan or War Veterans’ Day in honour of the blessed birth anniversary of the Immortal Standard-Bearer of the Epic of Karbala, Hazrat Abu’l-Fazl al-Abbas (AS), hailed the valiant disabled combatants as “Living Martyrs”.
In his message, His Eminence, who expressed regret that because of the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping the country the annual meetings on this day with his delegates and the Disabled War Veterans had been cancelled on the recommendations of the National Committee on Combating Coronavirus, congratulated the heroic combatants of the 8-year war the US had imposed on Iran in the 1980s through Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad, as well as the Defenders of the Holy Shrines against terrorists.
He said: Insha Allah (God Willing), Divine Rewards illuminate your eyes and hearts for the self-sacrifices in defence of Islam and the Islamic Republic against the forces of evil.
“I beseech Allah the Exalted, to bestow health, dignity, steadfastness and well-being on you and your patient family members whose services are surely among the best of good deeds.”
