
Tehran (ISNA) – The funeral procession for the late commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Quds Force Lt. General Qassem Soleimani has started at the University of Tehran on Monday.
Millions of Iranian mourners are taking part in the funeral procession for General Qassem Soleimani in Tehran.
Heads of the three branches of the government, members of the Expediency Council, cabinet members, president's deputies, Members of Parliament, senior Iranian military commanders, Friday prayers leaders, provincial officials and a huge number of Iranians from all walks of life are attending the ceremony.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is expected to pray for the body of General Soleimani.
Streets of Tehran are now witnessing massive crowds of people who mourn the martyred General Qassem Soleimani.
General Soleimani was popular figurehead in helping squelch an ominous rise of Daesh which once came as close as 30 km to Baghdad, while the US withdrew troops from Iraq and looked on.
