Iran Missile Strikes: Beginning of a 'New Middle East'?


On Jan 8, 2020, Iran responded to the US double-assassination of leading Iranian and Iraqi military figures by mounting a missile strike hitting two US military facilities in Iraq. Despite incessant threats by Trump beforehand, the US did not respond to the Iranian strike. The is a historic moment and could mark the next phase in the transition to a 'New Middle East'. The days of US domination and blindly backing Israel whilst orchestrating regime change and looting ever more regional resources - will eventually be over, but not before a protracted geopolitical chess match.
