Sanctions-Loving US Marching to Its Doom

It is indeed the height of hypocrisy. The world’s dangerously nuclear armed power with a criminal record of deliberately dropping two atomic bombs on Japan to kill, disable, and deform the maximum number of civilians while destroying the hapless cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, continues to accuse Iran of seeking to produce nuclear weapons despite the fact that the Islamic Republic which has mastered the nuclear fuel cycle, considers it "haraam” or religiously forbidden to manufacture weapons of mass destruction.

The US had targeted Japan during the closing years of World War 2 because the Japanese didn’t have the atomic arsenal to retaliate, and the reason Washington dare not attack Pyongyang these days is because of this very factor. That is, North Korea has the nuclear weapons technology to rain down death and destruction on US cities, if provoked.

The other day, the gangster Mike Pompeo, a cowardly character steeped in lies and deceit who acts as Secretary of State to the thuggish US president, Donald Trump, threatened sanctions against countries cooperating legally with Iran under NPT rules to expand the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant for peaceful production of electricity. 

He alleged that the latest American measures were meant to curb Iran’s ability to refine uranium and mitigate its pursuit of a nuclear weapon.

What a harebrained idiot this Pompeo is? Either he has not studied the history of the Bushehr Power Plant, which despite sabotage by German and French firms that were involved in the original project, was finally completed by Iranian experts (with some technical cooperation from Russia), or he thinks that his threats will scare away foreign firms coordinating with the Islamic Republic, under round-the-clock IAEA monitoring. 

Anyway, like his Italian progenitor Pompeius, whose dream of subjugation of the Parthian Empire was turned into nightmare at the Battle of Carrhae in 53 BC in what is now Turkey when the famous Iranian general Surena crushed the Roman army, Pompeo will be in for a rude shock if he were to provoke the tried and trusted generals of the Islamic Republic in any place in West Asia.

Sanctions or economic terrorism – whatever you call them – is a cowardly tactic used by impotent regimes, supposed to be enjoying a certain degree of military and economic superiority but fearful of the growing political, industrial, commercial and cultural power of a determined nation. 

These are used mostly as a psychological weapon for causing short term pains since in the long run they lack any practical purpose to scare away world countries from the targeted nation or to sabotage that country’s indigenous talents for resistance and development.

In the case of Iran, if sanctions are a blessing in disguise for a strategically located country blessed with a wide variety of natural resources, possessing skilled manpower, serving as a vital link between various geographical areas, and having the iron resolve to defeat terrorism and tyrannical regimes, for the US sanctions are nothing but an exercise in futility. 

Neither Washington has the ability to confront Tehran’s growing popularity in the region, nor the power to stop its rapidly expanding missile and aerospace defence technology, let alone halting Iranian oil imports to ‘zero’.

The main goal of Trump is to prolong the precarious existence of the illegal Zionist entity through such bullying tactics in the vain hope of browbeating Iran into submission.

But when racist Israel and its genocidal ruler, Benjamin Netanyahu the children-killer, cannot cope with the crude missile power of the besieged Palestinians of Gaza, how can they face the powerful precision-guided projectiles of Hezbollah, in case they were foolish enough to bank upon Donald the Dotard’s promise of support for starting hostilities with Lebanon’s legendary anti-terrorist movement.

Sanctions-loving US should know that one false move in West Asia will open the gates of hell for the CENTCOM terrorists who will be wiped out from this part of the world.
