The continued illegal imprisonment of the Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) by the regime of President Mohamed Buhari, even though the health of the venerable Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his imprisoned wife keeps to deteriorate, has shocked the civilized world.
It is strange that the head of state of Nigeria, a former military coup leader, has violated all Islamic norms by refusing to obey the explicit verdict of the Federal Court of Nigeria for the immediate release of Sheikh Zakzaky.
This has led to massive protests nationwide, and unfortunately, the gunning down of several peaceful protestors by the security forces, who are actually terrorizing the citizens.
On Tuesday, IMN members marched through the streets of the capital Abuja in large numbers, carrying banners with different inscriptions and chanting solidarity songs for release of their leader.
They accused the regime of misusing the court to frustrate their efforts to secure the release of their spiritual leader.
This evident by the continued adjournment of the trials by the regime even by its kangaroo courts who are supposed to try Sheikh Zakzaky for things which he did not do. It is obvious that if the trial goes ahead there are no document to frame him up for the alleged mayhem in Zaria on 15 December 2015, the day of his illegal arrest, and the judicial authorities will have no choice but to acquit him.
It is to be noted that even Christians as well as Sunni Muslims have deplored the continued detention of the IMN leader, while medics have confirmed the dangers to his life because of deteriorating health.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populated country, which allows even animists and atheists to freely practice their beliefs, has made life worst for the country’s 12 million and constantly growing Shi’a Muslim population.
This is indeed a blatant violation of the Nigerian constitution which says all religions, including the various Muslim denominations, such as Sufis, have the right to practice and preach their beliefs.
Observers point out that Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky is the victim of the blind bias of Buhari, who takes orders from the Wahhabi cult of Saudi Arabia and the illegal Zionist regime, rather than protecting the interest of his own country and citizens.
This is the reason he has actually turned a blind eye to the horrendous crimes committed by the Boko Haram terrorist outfit, which has Wahhabi tendencies and does not believe in human dignity.
In contrast, the Shi’a Muslims of Nigeria, who follow the School of Jurisprudence of the Ahl al-Bayt or Blessed Household of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), have no such deviant or divisive tendencies, and believe that Muslims whatever sect they belong to, must knit ranks against the enemies of humanity.
This concept of Islamic unity as well as national solidarity with the Christians of Nigeria, has alarmed both Riyadh and Tel Aviv, and pressure from these two terrorist entities, with the support of the US, has worsened the plight of the IMN Leader and led to persecution of Shi’a Muslims, despite their growing numbers.
Hopefully saner minds will prevail and Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah, will be released.
