It seems, the US, or more properly its quixotic president, is asking for real trouble. Of course, he will be safe in the White House for the moment, but it is clear he doesn’t have the least concern for the safety of the poor American troops, whom he has illegally stationed in Syria.
These poor guys, despite the heavy weaponry they have in their possessions are not likely to return home in one piece from a place where their uninvited presence is strongly opposed by all and everybody – the government of Syria, its allies who helped defeat Daesh and other American-backed terrorists, and by the betrayed Syrian Kurds.
Earlier this month when the demoralized US troops retreated from the Syrian towns bordering the Turkish frontier, they were decried as cowards and pelted with stones and rotten tomatoes.
Now there will be different types of projectiles hurled at them by both the Kurds and the Arabs, who have realized that their loyalties as citizens are with the government in Damascus and definitely not with those from the other side of the world who are trying to impose themselves as overlords.
For the moment, there are verbal demands that the American troops end their illegal presence around the oilfields of the Euphrates basin, which the government along with the regional people, whether Kurds or Arabs, is capable of protecting.
The allies of Syria, such as Iran and Russia, have also called for the withdrawal of every single American soldier from Syria, and warned of the consequences of their illegal and uninvited presence.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousawi, has often emphasized that the US troops and other uninvited armed forces leave the soil of Syria, and now Russia has openly joined the growing demands for their exit.
The other day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in unambiguous words: "As for the presence of American soldiers in Syria, our position is well known. US troops had been deployed without permission from Damascus.”
He added: "Both Moscow and Damascus seek the complete withdrawal of all occupying forces from the country.”
The Syrian Kurds have also dismissed American claims of coordination with them, saying they have no faith in the US and have no need for those 500 Yankees lingering around the oil fields on the pretext of helping them.
This means, the American troops are in the crosshairs of all those determined to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.
In other words, sooner, rather than later, fireworks might lit up the skies of the areas under occupation of the Americans and their stooges.
And the poor guys, whether Trump is impeached and kicked out of the White House or whether he stays precariously to complete the present term (re-election seems out of question for a criminal like him), will be lucky to flee Syria helter-skelter as colleagues start ending up in body bags for the return journey.
