Palestinian celebration of Mawlid evidence of a true nation: Iran MoFA

By Al Mayadeen English

Palestinians in Deir al-Balah are celebrating Mawlid al-Nabi, despite the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, highlighted the stark contrast between the resilience of the Palestinian people and the desperation of Israelis amidst the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

In a post on his official X account Saturday, Kanaani expressed that the Palestinian nation continues to endure immense grief and suffering, as a result of the Israeli regime's policies.

He also pointed to the increasing trend of settlers leaving the occupied territories, as well as footage circulating online showing Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, celebrating the Mawlid, the day of the birth of the Prophet Mohammed, reflecting their hope and determination to achieve victory.

Kanaani emphasized the distinction between a genuine nation and a fabricated entity, in reference to the Palestinian nation and the Israeli settler colonial project respectively.

Muslims around the world, in areas affected by the US-backed and led aggression on natives such as Yemen and Palestine, celebrate the anniversary of the prophet's birth, despite ongoing bombing campaigns.

In the Gaza Strip, over 41,000 people have been martyred as a result of the Israeli aggression, with sickness, polluted waters, and destroyed civilian infrastructures plaguing the population.

Yet, Palestinians continue to come together to celebrate significant occasions like Ramadan and Mawlid, a defiant act that frustrates Israeli officials intent on erasing their culture.
