US-Israeli Devilish Designs on Iraq

By: Kayhan Int’l

The Free World condemns the growing lawlessness around the globe of the roguish regime of Donald Trump, ranging from Venezuela to West Asia, and, of course, Ukraine.
The US through the constant supply of weapons and wealth to Israel fuels the genocide in Gaza, the persecution of the Palestinians throughout the Zionist usurped land, the terrorising of Lebanon, and the incursions into Syria.
It recently unabashedly admitted that talks with the Islamic Republic were a deception for last June’s 12-day Israeli war followed by the direct US bombing of three of Iran’s civilian nuclear plants.
Now comes the news – on the heels of the blatant meddling in Lebanon to try to disarm the legendry anti-terrorist movement, Hezbollah – Washington has warned Baghdad that if weapons of the Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU) are not seized, Israel has been given the go ahead to bomb strategic centres in Iraq.
Is this not state terrorism by the US, which seems all prepared to launch a war on Venezuela to topple its elected government and seize its oilfields, to tighten its grip on oil-rich Iraq and try to paint it in Zionist colours?
What is the goal of the illegal US military presence in Iraq, and what right has it to demand the dismantling of the country’s dedicated defence forces in violation of the UN Charter, after having failed to defeat through its takfiri terrorist hordes a decade ago?
Why the UN Security Counci,l which allows itself to be manipulated by the US and a few West European regimes, is silent on the unabated US crimes in West Asia, as well as in Latin America?
For the sake of regional and global peace, these questions not just require the right answers but solutions to end US lawlessness around the globe.
This is not the first instance of the US threatening Iraq with Israeli attacks. There is plenty of documented evidence over the past two years of US aircraft facilitating Israel’s misuse of Iraqi airspace to attack Iran.
It is also clear that Washington has never hidden its disdain for the PMU, formed in 2014 on the edict of Iraq’s Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani, to save the country from the Daesh onslaught.
These popular units, called Hashd ash-Sha’bi in Arabic, proved their mettle during the liberation of Falluja, Tikrit, Ramadi, and Mosul, while the US-trained forces fled whenever the takfiri terrorists flexed their inflated muscles.
Contrary to the fabricated reports in the western and Arab media of the PMU indulging in sectarianism, these popular forces are not solely from the Shi’a majority of Iraq, but also include the Sunni Muslim minority, ethnic Kurds, Christians and the Izadis.
They behave in the most disciplinary and humanitarian manner with the refugees and the men, women, and children delivered from Daesh oppression, while ensuring Iraq’s sovereignty and independence by being a bulwark against any attempt by any enemy including Israel.
These are the very factors, which the US is afraid of, and is trying to destroy the multi-ethnic and multi-religious unity of Iraq.
In view of these facts, it should be a matter of urgency from the soon to be formed newly elected Iraqi government to summon the courage and show the exit to the Yankees who have not just overstayed in the host country but have violated the norms of hospitality.
One last word. Iran’s support for the people and government of Iraq in their struggle against terrorism and foreign hegemony is something natural and based upon good-neighbourly ties dating almost three thousand years, which no aggressor has been able to disrupt.
