Al-Azhar Chief Calls What Is Happening in Gaza A Full-Scale Genocide

IQNA – Rejecting the words commonly used in the media to describe the situation in Gaza, the Sheikh of Egypt’s Al-Azhar emphasized what is happening in the Palestinian enclave today is a full-scale genocide.

Al-Azhar chief Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, in a decisive speech, explained the moral dimensions of the Palestinian crisis and said the current situation in Gaza no longer leaves room for silence or taking middle positions, the Palestine Information Center reported.

He added that Palestine is not an issue that can be disputed because the scale of aggression and the violation of all civilizational and religious values has reached a point where “neutrality no longer makes sense, especially in a situation where the blood of innocents is being shed.”

Pointing to the moral responsibility of the international community, al-Tayeb said the situation has reached a stage where every individual or government must choose either to explicitly take a stand against these crimes or to be considered an accomplice in these human tragedies by remaining silent.

In another part of his speech, he rejected the terms commonly used in the media about Gaza and said what is happening today should not be called war, but rather a full-scale genocide.

Al-Tayeb went on to say that this is a full-scale genocide carried out by an army equipped with the most deadly weapons against a defenseless nation.
