Most well-known streets of Tehran

IRAN DAILY

Most well-known streets of Tehran

The most well-known streets in Tehran are integral to the city’s cultural, historical, and social identity, and they house a large number of the city’s tourist attractions.

Vali-e Asr Street

With a length of nearly 18 kilometers, Vali-e Asr Street is the longest street in the Middle East and one of the oldest in Iran. It runs from Tajrish Square in the Shemiranat district of Tehran, south to Rah-Ahan Square, iranparadise.com wrote.

There are so many historical houses on the street, which date back to different eras. Some of the monuments were registered on Iran’s National Heritage List and are function as museums.

There are different activities you can do on Vali-e Asr Street. So many shops and restaurants as well as parks and cultural sites are on this street.

Enqelab Street

One of Tehran’s oldest and most significant streets is Enqelab. It is conveniently accessible from various parts of the city due to its central location.

A major route in Tehran connects Enqelab Square to Imam Hossein Square. The street’s full name is Enqelab-e Eslami, named in honor of the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Enqelab Street, which is five kilometers long, is a main artery in the city’s cultural life with a host of bookshops.

Lalehzar Street

Lalehzar Street is one of the oldest in Tehran, and signs of its antiquity can still be seen along it. Lalehzar Street was a large garden during the Qajar Era. All of the important events and ceremonies of the court were conducted there. Lalehzar was Tehran’s first modern street in the early 20th century. Toward the middle of the century, Lalehzar became the country’s hub for cinema and theater goers. This important street today is a shopping district that contains Iran’s main retail corridor for electrical appliances.

The jewels of Lalehzar’s buildings are now soulless, disused cinemas and theaters.

Keshavarz Boulevard

One of the busiest streets in Tehran’s city center is Keshavarz Boulevard, which runs from the west side of Vali-e Asr Square to Dr. Gharib Street. Due to its proximity to Vali-e Asr and Enqelab squares, which serve as the hubs of many universities and places of higher learning, Keshavarz Boulevard serves as a hub for students.

The boulevard became the first prominent new-style boulevard in Tehran in 1959 and changed names and eras thereafter. The boulevard saw many faces of society. Karaj Water Boulevard, Elizabeth Boulevard and now Keshavarz Boulevard is a 1,700-meter boulevard where these tales shaped.

Ever since the boulevard was built, it has had a spirit that encourages passersby to walk in the green area in its center, hear the flow of water in the channel, and watch daily life from the benches. Even if you are passing by in a car, the old trees call you to stop for a few minutes and daydream under their shadow.

Darband Street

Darband Street is one of the most pleasant streets of the capital in northern Tehran. This street extends from Qods Square to the base of Darband Mountain. Due to its location at the base of the mountain, Darband Street has several sections with a high incline.

Formerly a village close to Tajrish, Darband is the beginning of a popular hiking trail into Mount Tochal, which towers over Tehran. A chairlift is also available for those not interested in hiking. The Persian term darband translates into canyon.
