Iranian cleric: Yemenis’ reaction to desecration of Qur’an commendable

 A senior Iranian cleric has hailed the massive rallies held in Yemen that condemned the recent desecration of holy Qur’an in the United States.

Hjjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Qomi, head of the Council for the Development of Qur’anic Culture and president of the Islamic Propagation Organization, in a message published in Arabic on social media, praised the response of Yemeni worshippers following the insult by a U.S. Senator to the Qur’an, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Following the insult to the Holy Qur’an by a US Senate candidate, the people of Saada and other Yemeni cities took to the streets to condemn this heinous act and once again express their support for the oppressed and resilient people of Palestine.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Qomi, described the repeated insults to the Qur’an as a comprehensive war against Islamic identity and sacred values.

The message by the senior cleric read, “Peace and God’s greetings to the patient and determined people of Yemen who have stood firm in their beliefs and shown the true spirit of Islam to all Muslims. The Qur’an is your protector and supporter. You have tied your history to dignity and honor. For you, the Qur’an is not merely a book; it is a soul flowing through the veins of resistance. With reliance on it, you have confounded the enemy from the mountains of Yemen to the soil of Gaza. Following your example, and together with your sacred anger, we also say: Death to America and Death to Israel.”

The sacrilegious act has drawn widespread condemnation from Muslims and human rights activists, calling it a clear provocation and an insult to the sentiments of millions of Muslims in the United States and around the world.
