Yemeni Politician Criticizes UN Security Council Resolution on Gaza

Details of the Resolution On Monday, November 17, the UN Security Council adopted the U.S.-proposed resolution on ending the war in Gaza with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions.

1-The resolution calls for the creation of a so-called “Peace Council” to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction until reforms in the Palestinian Authority are completed, with its mission ending in late 2027.
2-It also proposes establishing a “Temporary International Stabilization Force” under unified command, coordinated with Egypt and Israel.
3-This force would be tasked with disarming Gaza, protecting civilians, training Palestinian police, and securing humanitarian crossings.
Yemeni Criticism
Antar argued that the resolution’s cost is being paid by countries that normalized relations with Israel and those implementing U.S. and Israeli projects in the region. He added: “The Security Council’s approval of this American resolution, which grants the right to disarm the resistance to the U.S., came thanks to the shameful positions of Russia and China, as well as the complicity of Arab and Islamic states and the Palestinian Authority.”
He stressed that acceptance of disarmament by the resistance is highly unlikely despite all challenges. Regarding Yemen’s stance, he said: “If Hamas asks Yemen to support them against Israel’s violations of the ceasefire, Yemen will stand by Gaza and once again besiege Israel in the Red Sea.”
Regional Consequences
Antar warned that true peace in Gaza means peace in the entire region and security for international shipping. He cautioned that failure of the ceasefire could drag the region into a major war that would harm the whole world.
Yemen’s Post-War Outlook
He explained that after the Gaza war, Yemen will turn to its internal affairs and negotiations with other countries, facing only two options: peace or war. “Choosing peace means pulling hostile states out of the quagmire into which the U.S. has dragged them, and ending the suffering of Yemenis through a peace plan that had been agreed upon but was canceled by Washington due to Yemen’s support for Gaza.”
Commitment to Palestine
The Yemeni advisor reaffirmed: “Yemen has always supported the Palestinian cause. If Israel launches a new attack on Gaza, the situation will change completely, and a battle involving all members of the resistance axis will be waged to liberate holy sites and end the American presence in the Red Sea.”
He concluded: “This battle will end with the victory of the front of truth and the defeat of enemies created by imperialist powers and compromising states. It will pave the way for genuine peace and the establishment of a divine just government whose blessings will reach the entire world.”
